Mixlab, Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp

Tasting Tendrils brings together the outcomes of seven artist residencies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp’s Mixlab, where digital fabrication technologies such as CNC machines and 3D printers meet artistic experimentation. Using food as both a material and a metaphor, the exhibition explores alternative approaches to making, where ceramics, edible matter and digital processes intersect. Through sculpture, tableware and installation, the participating artists challenge conventions of function, efficiency and human-centred design, inviting visitors to reconsider the relationships between objects, materials, technologies and communal rituals around the table. The exhibition, part of the programme of Antwerp Art Weekend 2026, was activated through performances and artist talks.

The presentation includes collaborations with Saskia Smith (texts), Vlad Boyko (graphic design), Arno Fleerackers (textiles), Marnix Van Soom (Neo Seer), Quinten de Cuyper (sound & speakers), Jouke Verlinden & Augmented Crafts Lab, Pieter Van Der Donckt (tech-connoisseur), Eline De Clercq (myoga plants), Lou Vandam (production assistance), and the second-year BA students of the Jewellery Design department (silver spoons).
